Women Who Have C-Sections Have Insurability Issues

June 26th, 2008 · No Comments

The BlogsByWomen website maintains that women are having to pay higher insurance premiums if they had a c-section previously.

Moreover, many insurance companies are refusing to insure women who have had c-sections.

Why? Because if they had one c-section, the chances of needing a c-section on the delivery of subsequent children is almost guaranteed.

Although the c-section was to be a “last resort” option, it is being performed unnecessarily many experts say.

“Obstetricians are rendering large numbers of women uninsurable by overusing this surgery,” said Pamela Udy, who is the president of the International Caesarean Awareness Network, which has the mission to prevent the use of unnecessary c-sections.
